Five Reasons to Choose Cook & Associates to Represent You
- We have a track record of successfully representing clients.
Stephen Cook has procured substantial settlements or judgments for dozens of clients. In 1993, for instance, he won what was at the time the largest toxic tort jury verdict in Colorado obtaining over $3,000,000, with interest and punitive damages, against Louisiana Pacific Corporation. In another case of note, Mr. Cook was lead counsel representing 26 farmers who suffered serious financial losses after the pinto beans they had placed with a storage elevator company were later sold “out of trust” without their permission, leaving them with no beans to sell. The jury awarded compensatory and punitive damages, which with interest and attorney fees exceeded 1.5 million dollars. These are just two of the clients who have found it pays to have Stephen Cook and his associates as your representatives.
- We are dedicated to protecting the rights of those who have been wronged.
We treat every client’s case as if it were our own. It disturbs us when we hear about someone who has endured physical harm, had their property destroyed or their rights trampled. And, we take action on their behalf. In Community Hospital Association v. District Court, 570 P.2d 243 (Colo. 1977), Stephen
Cook was counsel in a medical malpractice case against an incompetent physician and
the hospital that supervised him. Cook was able to convince the Colorado Supreme
Court, that his client had the right to access records of the other patients of an
incompetent physician to establish his history of substandard care.In 2011, Mr. Cook was again successful in the Colorado Supreme Court in the case of Henisse v First Transit Corporation. The lower court ruled that his client could collect no more than $150,000 for her injuries from a First Transit-operated bus because the private bus company was entitled to that cap as a contractor for RTD. The Supreme Court reversed, finding that the statutory cap did not extend to the private company.
